ALEX: Croc acts like Nifty Doorways customization software, but secretly collects information about the places you visit on the web, and sends that information out to advertisers.
CUSTOMER: Really?
ALEX: Oh yes. It will also sometimes replace ads on a website you’re visiting with their own ads, making it look like ads that are part of the site but depriving that site of its own ad revenue. it’s a good thing you found it with our software. Who knows what might have —
ALICE: Did you hear? We’re considering buying the company that distributes “Croc.”
CUSTOMER: Oh hey… your software just downgraded the threat level from “Ack!” to “Meh.”
