CUSTOMER: The nature of the problem is “it doesn’t work.”

ALEX: Yes sir. Can you verify that the access box is connected to your computer, that it is plugged into the wall, and that it is turned on?

CUSTOMER: Yes, yes, and yes.

ALEX: Can you verify that your computer is running Nifty Doorways XP or higher, that it is running a version of UberNet SoftModem 4.7 or higher, and that it is also turned on?

CUSTOMER: Yes, yes, and yes.

ALEX: Are you up to date on paying your bill?

CUSTOMER: I just got the service installed this morning.

ALEX: So you aren’t up to date on paying your bill?

CUSTOMER: I just got the service installed this morning. I don’t get billed for another month.

ALEX: So you lost your bill?

CUSTOMER: When is your shift over? I think I’d like to call back then.
