Dubious Precedent

Comic Transcript

JUDGE: I see the first order of business is a motion filed by the NSA to overturn ap revious ruling.

FEDS: That’s correct, Your Honor.

JUDGE: The ruling requires you to stop destroying data that might be relevant to the case. That seems reasonable to me; I’m not inclined to overturn it.

FEDS: Your Honor, there is very compelling legal precedent for our request.

JUDGE: What precedent are you referring to?

FEDS: “Nos Operor Non Volo,” Your Honor.

(Silence.)

JUDGE: You just said “we don’t want to” in Latin.

FEDS: Very much “non volo.”
