ALEX: So, Mark… IBM announced that it was finally pulling the plug on OS/2.
MARK: What, again?
ALEX: No, they mean it this time. It’s the end of the road. They’re telling all you OS/2 users to switch to Linux.
MARK: Uh-huh.
ALEX: you seem to be taking the death of your beloved operating system unusually well.
MARK: Look, Alex I don’t know what you’re expecting from me, but any OS/2 user will tell you this isn’t anything IBM hasn’t been saying for the last five years or so.
MARK: For the last few years IBM hasn’t even been in the picture. If we want drivers we go to a third-party vendor or to open source developers. If we ant the operating system, we buy eComStation. If we want support, we post on a Usenet forum or the eComStation support forums. We don’t NEED IBM to use OS/2.
(Silence.)
ALEX: So you’re not bitter?
MARK: I didn’t say that.
