The Return of the Podcasts

Submitted by C B Wright on

Waaaaay back when I first started posting fiction I used to post podcasts of every episode I published. You can still go through the archives and listen to my original attempts at recording Pay Me, Bug! -- if you insist -- though when I listen to them these days, I die a little inside.

Having all my fiction in audiobook format is something I really want to happen. My preferred solution for this is to get a brilliant narrator to read all my stories, bringing each character to life. Unfortunately, right now my budget for narrators is...

...well. Me. My budget is me.

Hey Look It's December

Submitted by C B Wright on

The mad rush of December is upon us.

Some basic highlights for my month:

  • We're still trying to get a permanent place to live. Long-time readers may recall we've been trying to do this since, oh, June. If our latest attempt to secure long-term lodgings is successful, the matter will be resolved come February.
  • This is still disrupting everything else. There are people who can concentrate just fine without a dedicated concentrating-place. I'm apparently not one of them, at least not any more.
  • There are also other things disrupting everything else. You know, presents and little girls excited about Christmas and all that kind of stuff.
  • Hey look, new site features. To make myself feel better I decided to add two features to the site, features I'd been planning on adding (or in one case re-adding) for a while but didn't get around to it. The first is that those of you who post here now have access to a rich text editor. The second is that the forums are back.

At some point I'll probably post a follow-up that has more navel-gazing.

Quick Status Update

Submitted by C B Wright on

Y'all have been extremely patient, and I apologize for the continuing delays.

My current situation is still about as chaotic as it has been since, well, June. It looks like the earliest things will start to settle down will be mid-November -- during NaNoWriMo -- which isn't a very calm month for any number of reasons.

That said, things will pick up before then. As in, "starting next week," including a special surprise for you that will require very little effort on my part to provide. Which is the best kind of special surprise. More on that later.

Status Report

July has been a difficult month.

I was supposed to have Issue 12 of Curveball out this month. I was also supposed to have the next chapter of The Points Between up. I was also supposed to have a lot more comics up than there actually are.

Instead, I spent most of July trying to find a job.

Issue 12 is currently about 25% complete. The next chapter of The Points Between is about 50% complete. On the other hand, I'm working again, so ability to feed family is once more at 100%.

Apologies for the delay. All the other projects--both fiction and comics--are moving forward. I have a lot of ground I need to make up...

Random Button!

Submitted by C B Wright on

The navigation buttons for the comics on the site now have a "Random" button. Clicking the button will take you to a random comic. Hurray for new features!

The button doesn't show up on the comics page, because of Drupal Reasons. I'm working on it. But as soon as you click into the full page view for the comic, it's there...

Potential site warnings ahead

Submitted by C B Wright on

A reader pointed out a few days ago that he was getting certificate errors and site warnings when he visited my site. I tracked the problem down to a Drupal module that provides the "like" and "+1" widgets for a number of posts, and deactivated it. However, I am re-activating it in order to try to help troubleshoot the issue for the module developer.

This means that for a while when you visit this site your browser might tell you OH MY GOD THIS SITE HAS A PROBLEM BEWARE OR YOU'LL CATCH A VIRUS AND DIE which is a reasonable thing for a browser to report, but is probably not what will actually happen. Please bear with me for a few days.

Thanks!

Update: The problem was patched, and everything should be working again. If you're getting certificate warnings, please let me know, because it's for something new.
