Curveball Fail

Submitted by C B Wright on

One of the things I'd hoped I'd be able to do when I started Curveball was "keep to a damn publishing schedule." This is, after all, modeled after a comic book. It publishes monthly. That's significantly longer than any webcomic or web serial I know of, and under most circumstances it's doable. Even so, during the course of this run I found myself going off the rails, and I spent a lot of time at the beginning of this year improving my workflow and focusing on getting Curveball back on track.

Which has just completely unraveled, officially, as of today.

The May issue of Curveball is not coming out in May. It will be coming out in June. Hopefully the June issue will also be coming out in June.

There is really only one reason for this. I've spent so much time trying to move to another state -- much of that time spent in futilely trying to do the last few things on my own -- that I haven't been able to write. I've been able to work my day job and try, with varying degrees of success, to pack. And that's about it. So Issue 11, while plotted, has not been written. Today, the 31st, is the last day I could reasonably post anything at all and consider it legitimately the "May Issue," and it's just not going to happen.

My apologies to those of you are following the serial. It, like everything else in my life, has been pushed aside and trampled over because I can't manage all of the logistics involved in trying to move AND publish things at the same time.

The good news is I'm moving this weekend, but everything will still be a whirling sea of chaos for a while, and while I hope to get back on the stick and get all my publishing work moving again, I'm too stressed right now to estimate when that's going to happen.

I hate moving. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate moving.

I Am Still Alive

Hi everyone. I know it's been a while since I've posted... anything at all really. I'm in the process of packing up my house, trying to get it all stuffed away into a storage unit so I can move to Alabama.

I'm not doing it very well.

I have help this week though, and I have high hopes that this weekend I will begin my trek to Montgomery, Alabama. After that, I figure it might be nice if I, you know, started posting stuff again.

Limited Support for Mobile Devices

Eviscerati.Org now has limited support for mobile devices. "Limited" because it's still based on the non-mobile theme and the text isn't very optimized for mobile browser viewing. Tablets will probably do OK. Smartphone browsers will still probably not be the best user experience in the world -- you may want to view the site in landscape mode to mitigate some of the issues.

Upcoming Interruption of Schedule

Submitted by C B Wright on

Good morning, happy Monday, ugh. All the basics. An important announcement to start off the week:

I am moving to another state

Early next month (basically a couple weeks from now) I will be moving to Montgomery, Alabama. Preparing for this is pretty distracting: there’s a lot to do, not a lot of time to do it, and I still have to do things like “work” and “earn money,” which is inconvenient.

The move is affecting updates to content on this site

The site itself isn’t moving, but it’s going to be affected by all the time we’re putting into it. Updates will be erratic, and some plans for content will be kicked down the curb as I’m forced to triage my online activities.

Things Will Be Quiet

My DSL is out. It's a long and convoluted story that ends with "I probably won't get service back until Tuesday or Wednesday." Until then, the only Internet Access I have will be from my cell phone.

Don't expect too much around here till then.
