Some Clouds Have A Red Lining

Comic Transcript

ALEX: Ubersoft Technical Support, Alex speaking. how can I help you today?

CUSTOMER: I hear you’re creating a new version of Nifty Doorways focused on “The Cloud.”

ALEX: That’s right.

CUSTOMER: Well what is “The Cloud” and why should I care that you’re focusing on it?

ALEX: “The Cloud” is a big, amorphous mass of software and technical services that’s sitting “out there” on the Internet that people can use in their day-to-day business operations.

ALEX: “The Cloud” can allow a customer to custom-build business applications by finding a number of small tools and throwing them together on a web page — that’s called a “mashup” — or by hiring Internet companies to perform specific business tasks for you — that’s called “outsourcing” — or by downloading and installing free software like Linux to cut down on licensing costs.

CUSTOMER: What’s that called?

ALEX: Godless Communism.
