The Sons Of Liberty

Comic Transcript

JIM WASHINGTON: Good evening. I’m Jim Washington, and this is the SCLM Nightly News.

JIM WASHINGTON: Tonight’s stop story: the ACLU’s lawsuit against Ubersoft, filed when the ACLU learned that Ubersoft was voluntarily giving private customer data to the Federal Government, took a surprising turn today when Ubersoft filed a countersuit against the ACLU for “taking legal action with the intent of suppressing the company’s First Amendment Rights.”

JIM WASHINGTON: The ACLU’s insistence on protecting privacy, Ubersoft argued, had a “chilling effect on the exercise of Free Speech” and further claimed the ACLU was using the courts as an “intimidation tactic” designed to “poison the Well of Liberty” and “erode the Bedrock fo Freedom” as well as to “diminish that great light shing forth from this mighty Republic.”

JIM WASHINGTON: When asked if they were perhaps laying it on a bit thick, an Ubersoft spokesman replied “maybe.”

NEWS TICKERTAPE: Ubersoft claims Linux violates its intellectual property, promises to sue “at some point in the future, maybe, when we feel like it.” :: “Are not,” SCO says — “Are too,” Judge says — “Are not,” SCO
