ALICE: The first, of course, is Google: it is aggressively leveraging its search technology to push its way into other revenue streams, growing at a breathtakingly fast rate, and remaining a media darling the whole time.

ALICE: The second is Linux: this “free software” phenomenon did not wither away like we once supposed it would, and despite its tepid reception by the computer mainstream press it continues to grow, because our customers seem to want to minimize their financial investment while maximizing the value they get in return.
