ALEX: Ubersoft Technical Support, Alex speaking. How can I help you?
CUSTOMER: Um… yes… our company is ordering new computers for next year, and we want to make sure they’ll run Verandah.
ALEX: The recommended hardware guidelines for Nifty Doorways Verandah are published on our website.
CUSTOMER: Yes, I know, I’ve seen them. Don’t you think they’re a little… um… extravagant?
ALEX: What do you mean?
CUSTOMER: We run a BUSINESS. You’re pushing Verandah, at least in part, as an operating system for the BUSINESS world. And yet you want every machine to have at least one gig of memory, a video card with at least 128 MB RAM and support for 3d graphics, and a top of the line Intel or AMD processor.
ALEX: So?
CUSTOMER: So why on earth would we need that kind of hardware when all we’re doing is answering email and crunching numbers on a spreadsheet?
(Silence.)
ALEX: Because we made it shiny.
CUSTOMER: Oooo!
