VIKTOR SCHRECK: Your Honor, when Massachusetts informed us that they had concerns about the so-called “proprietary” and so-called “closed” nature of the file format used by our office suite, we agreed — despite the fact that the file format depended on some of our most prized intellectual property and patents — we agreed to allow them to use that technology without fear of legal action being taken on our part.
JDUGE: You agreed to not sue them if they used your proprietary file format?
VIKTOR SCHRECK: We did, Your Honor.
JUDGE: I can’t understand why they would turn down such a compelling offer.
VIKTOR SCHRECK: It boggles the mind, Your Honor.
