An Unassailable Moral Stance

Comic Transcript

ALEX: … so you see, ultimately this new anti-piracy measure is intended to help our customers and improve their entire computer using experience.

CUSTOMER: … actually, I don’t see that at all.

CUSTOMER: Once upon a time it was possible to actually buy an operating system and never interact with the company again. You just bought it, installed it, and used it. Sure, there was the occasional update, but after the initial purchase, all contact with the company was optional. But NOW…

CUSTOMER: … NOW, after purchasing the software, not only do we have to call in to activate it, but we also need to do something ELSE in order to download updates! And I shudder to think what will be involved if we actually want to purchase an upgrade license when Verandah comes out! Time that could be spent USING our computer is, instead, spent on trying to prove that were ALLOWED to use it! What do you say to that?

(Silence.)

ALEX: Piracy is bad.

CUSTOMER: Right. I’m of to verify my computer with a length of pipe.
