CUSTOMER: My computer keeps displaying an out of memory error message.
MONK: It’s supposed to do that.
CUSTOMER: What?
MONK: It’s part of our error reporting system. When your computer runs out of memory, it alerts you to that fact with the error message.
(Silence.)
CUSTOMER: I’m actually more concerned about the fact that the computer has, apparently, run out of memory.
MONK: But isn’t it nice to know your error messages are functioning properly?
