MARK: Well it looks like you finally got something you can use in your “Nifty Doorways v. Linux” campaign that can’t be traced back to the company. Congratulations, I guess. You must be very pleased.
ALICE: Actually, no… I’m not.
MARK: What do you mean, no? Someone actually gives you untainted evidence that supports your own marketing campaign, and it doesn’t make you happy?
ALICE: Mark, I work in marketing. My job is to say things that are patently untrue with so much force and conviction that people who should know better can’t think of any way to disagree with me.
MARK: So?
ALICE: So if I say “this report indicates that Nifty Doorways is a more secure web server than Linux,” I’ll be telling the truth.
MARK: So what?
ALICE: So I work in Marketing. We don’t know how to do that.
