CUSTOMER: You’re telling me that you no longer support or provide virus updates for your 2003 edition of Ubersoft Antivirus, but you have no problem letting people pay to renew it when it provides no benefits whatsoever?
ALEX: It does provide a benefit. It acts as credit that extends the typical license of the 2005 edition by however much time you have left.
CUSTOMER: But in order to do that I have to buy the 2005 edition. So I’m essentially paying for two applications anyway.
ALEX: You could look at it that way.
CUSTOMER: What if I don’t WANT to pay for two applications?
ALEX: Then we experience something the business world likes to call “profit.”
