ALEX: Don’t you think adding the ability to fix an election is a little low, even by our standards?
PHIL: Well, no, not really.
PHIL: I mean, think about it. Sooner or later someone is going to figure out a way to do it, right? So better that we include the ability as a feature, and keep the potential to profit from it, than to have it held up as an example of shoddy programming.
ALEX: So you see the disruption of the democratic process as a way to anticipate criticism of your software security?
PHIL: I prefer to think of it as acknowledging the inevitability of a new revenue stream.
