ALEX: So that’s the long and short of it. He’s become like us so we’ll turn into the way he was before he became like us, and when we turn into him he’ll turn BACK into him.

PHIL: I don’t get it.

ALEX: OK, look. Scott is one of those guys who actually goes out of his way to help the customer… and he wants Ubersoft as a whole to do the same thing.

PHIL: I get that.

ALEX: All right, well, he knows that he was brought into help help people so that Ubersoft would NOT be pulled int hat direction… So his attempts to help the customer are actually counter-productive, because that’s what Ubersoft wants.

ALEX: Ubersoft hired him to be a sort of moral guidepost, so that the rest of us would know what territory NOT to drift into. By drifting into the realm of apathy, he’s muddying the moral waters. Turning off the moral lighthouse. Making it more likely for the rest of us to stray onto the straight and narrow…

(Silence.)

PHIL: Good Lord. That’s fiendish and dastardly.

ALEX: Fiendish and dastardly, yet selfless and altruistic.
