CUSTOMER: Hello… I’m trying to get your UberNet Wireless ethernet card to work with another company’s wireless ethernet hub… it doesn’t.
ALEX: Wireless networking can be a tricky business.
ALEX: So many different companies have wireless network cards on the market, it’s easy to run into differences between brands. that’s why the IEEE 802.11 standard was created — to allow devices created and sold by different companies to work together.
CUSTOMER: So if this 802.11 thing is supposed to make sure all the devices work together, why don’t yoru cards work?
ALEX: Well, it’s a standard. we don’t support it.
