ALEX: Look, there’s no way I’m going to pay for those charges, especially after you’ve admitted it’s your fault the credit card number was stolen.
CALLER: I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do about that.
CALLER: You see, even though it was technically our fault that the thief was able to break into our computers and steal your credit card number, it is still your responsibility to manage your accounts and your funds. You automatically accepted the risks of banking with us when you signed on five years ago.
ALEX: And what if I told my fellow support techs to give you the runaround every time you called in with the server problems?
CALLER: OK, maybe we can work something out…

The year 2000 was a younger, more optimistic time. 🙂
