CUSTOMER: Is your software Y2K compliant?
ALEX: Not really.
CUSTOMER: Not really what?
ALEX: Back in the early days of our company, we were more interested in getting software out the door quickly than we were in doing it correctly. And these days, we’re more interested in maintaining our marketshare than we are actually fixing any problems. So we haven’t really done anything to make our software Y2K compliant.
CUSTOMER: So what are you going to do about the Year 2000?
ALEX: Well, come January 1 I’ll have quite a bit of vacation time.
