A New Webcomic You Should See

M.C.A. Hogarth is probably one of the hardest-working artist/entrepreneurs alive. (She’s definitely harder-working than any of the dead ones, due to certain specific metaphysical constraints on death that effectively hinder productivity). She’s probably more well known in the webfiction community, where she’s rather well known for Spots, the Space Marine and her affinity for creating brilliant, truly alien civilizations and bringing them to life. (I have reviewed one of those books, The Aphorisms of Kherishdar, on this site).

Hogarth is one of the friendliest people I’ve interacted with online. She is always willing to offer advice for other people who are trying to do the same thing she is–that is to say, to “make it” as an artist. One of the ways she does this is through a series of posts where she discusses the “Three Jaguars” — three pieces of an entrepreneur/artists personality who constantly have to deal with each other in order to get things done. These jaguars (business jaguar, artist jaguar, and marketer jaguar) have been used consistently in her posts to describe the different mindsets someone has to have in order to get things done, especially when you’re doing it all yourself.

And now Hogarth has created a web comic featuring the three jaguars.

If you’re interested in how an artist runs her own business, you might want to keep an eye on this one. For my part, I will note the look on Business Manager’s face before she has coffee and realize that’s really the only thing I have in common with Business Manager.
