A Much More Important Anniversary

Seventeen years ago I went to a birthday party for one of my best friends and I met a girl I couldn’t get out of my head. Two years later we were married. Fifteen years after that we’re still married, and it just doesn’t feel like 15 years to me.

I am not the easiest person to get along with: sarcastic, short-tempered, uncompromising in various inconvenient ways… and on top of my various personality quirks she’s had to put up with my obsession with my comic, with writing, with recording music… and with a tendency to muck about with technology that she is only tangentially interested in at best. But she has borne it with grace and humor, and has supported me even when she didn’t know why I was ranting about whatever it was I was ranting about at any given time.

I count myself incredibly lucky to have met her, and to be able to continue to meet her every single day.

Trish, you’re the best. I love you. Happy Anniversary.
